About

My name is Ben.  I am a guy from Des Moines Iowa who budgets his life.  My plan has met so many of my needs in my life, but I totally want so much more.

I am like many other Americans out there.  I want that nice apartment/house overlooking scenery, that flashy car and vacations to new and exciting places.  I want to give back to the community I live in.  I want to stash money away for our future and invest in other people's new ideas. To get there, I know I need a plan that maximizes my return on life.

WHO IS BEN WADE?

I am still trying to figure that one out and have been doing so for the past 33years.  But if I could distill myself down to the people in my life and the thinks I like, I would look like this.

I have been happily married to my wife, Ellen, for nearly 8 years.  We find our passions in cycling, good food, great vacations and zonking out on the couch for a good movie.  We have also managed to keep our beagle, Mervin, from killing himself for 8 years, so he is basically our child at this point.

And when I have time to myself, it usually involves computers, home theaters, good beer and/or gaming.

SO WHY ANOTHER BUDGET BLOG?

This blog is my tool for satisfying a deep personal need to manage our money better.  I am still learning about this fuel we call money and I want to share with the world my successes and mistakes with budgeting.  My hope is this will continue to drive my responsibility to the family as well as elicit new ways of thinking about money.

If you are already budgeting your cash wisely then maybe my experiences can help you save for that vacation or decide to spend that money on a kitchen remodel.  If you're not budgeting your money, then maybe my horror stories and simple tactics can help you get back on track.  Whatever your intentions, I hope my information can help improve your life.
